Casino

Is gambling allowed under Castro? Is there such a thing as a Cuban Casino?

Nope.

That would be one of the reasons for the revolution… :o

the underworld ran the casinos back then, now the Cuban government could run them and make a killing, but unlike our governments, the government in Cuba has moral standards and just because it would make money, doesn’t mean it’s OK.

So have all the old Casino building been torn down? Or can some of the history still be seen?

ssome can be seen in Havana and some of the houses the Mob bosses built …interest stuff on a bus tour

boy did I get a tune up over these comments
hehe
Let me clarify
I didn’t say I agree with their standards, just that they stick by them

Hotel Riviera was built with Myers Lanski and the Chicago Mobs money. (From what I was told) On the walls of the main lounge, by the stairs, there are (or were) pictures of Roulette and Black Jack tables being thrown over the sea wall and burned in a HUGE bonfire on the rocks below.

I believe the 9th floor Roof Garden of the Hotel Sevilla was a casino.
It’s still an impressive room.

I think that most of the casinos were in hotels - and the rooms are now reused for other things.
