Dress Code for men for a la carte BPSJ

I realise that men need to wear long pants and shirt for the a la carte restaurants however just wondering if they can wear open toe sandals ? or should they have shoes ? We will be staying at the Bahia Principe San Juan, does anyone know what the rule is there ?

My husband had no problems with foot wear at the a la cartes. One evening he wore shoes, another evening he wore sandals…nothing was said to him.

Thank you.

I wore long pants and sandals, never a problem. Some guests even wore jeans. I never would but each to his own.
