First Trip To D.R Need A Little Help Please

Hello,
We are in our early thirty’s and are looking for a great time in an all adults resort. We are looking for a romantic time but also like to have some fun at night as well. Well here are the 4 resorts we have narrowed it down to: 1) Excellence Punta Cana 2) Royal Suites Turquesa by Palladium 3) Punta Cana Princess All Suites Resort/Spa 4) Gran Bahia Principe Ambar. We are leaning towards Principe Ambar but any suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks so much for the help!!

I have only been to the Bahia Principe diamond club, but am going to the Ambar section this year. From my previous visit and from what I have read up on, and talked to my TA about I can tell you that the Ambar would be a great choice for younger couples looking for an adults only. It can be quiet if you are looking for some quiet alone time, but if you feel like having some fun at night you can hop over to the main section of the resort where they have outdoor shows, karaoke bar, and a lively disco/club that is open from 12-2am…so the best of both worlds!

The Ambar will be perfect for you.

Quieter than the main resort during the day. Excellent pool with swim up bar. Wonderful bar on the beach. Nice restaurants…and No kids!!

After the Lobby bar closes at 11PM you can head to Pueblo Principe at the front of the main resort where you have nightly dancing and entertainment. The Casino and Disco are there as well.

If you haven’t had enough fun after the disco closes you can get late night snacks and beer as well.

You’ll love the Ambar.

Hmm, anyone know what it costs to upgrade to Ambar? Dh & I are in the Bavaro side, but wondering since this is our 25th anniversary if we should look into upgrading.

not sure what they will charge you at the resort…I think I remember reading some posts from guests that had paid $30/day or something like that extra??

I know it was about $250 each extra for us to book the Ambar over the Punta Cana or Bavaro Sections…

We stayed at the Royal Suites at the Palladium in 2006. It is VERY quiet and a small little complex built at one end of the entire Palladium Complex. I found it romantic, especially if you get a room with a jacuzzi in it.

We used the jacuzzi tub with bubble bath in it after the beach!! It’s even better if you are able to afford on of the suites that has an outdoor one on your balcony!!

Although we never went, we did meet a couple that went to the disco there and they said it was quiet. We did have a really fun time in the casino one night and drinkng zambuca’s with an American couple we met.

We had best of both worlds there!

Enjoy your vacation!

Since this is your 25th anniversary. I would email the Bahia and tell them that you are celebrating your 25th and you would like to know if it is possible to upgrade to the Ambar section. You never know, they might throw it in for free. It never hurts to ask.
Either way, it’s a great resort.

when are you going? The Excellence would be a great honeymoon trip if you can get the upgrade to ocean suite.

We’ve already booked at the Gran Bahia - arriving on the 31st of March.

That’s a great idea - can’t hurt to ask.

I guess it looks like Ambar wins. We will be going at the end of April and will be sure to post how the trip went.

Thank you guys for all your suggestions!! ;D

DR here we come!!

You will love the Ambar, went last year and loved it and we are heading back down again in March for another 2 weeks.

Have a great vacation where ever you end up.

Jimmy 777, Hi, we have been 4 times to DR and loved every trip. Our first was at Bavaro suites and it was awsome. The beds are on a circular pedastool with a fan above you very romantic and clean. Loved the grounds very beautiful. Had good food and great time in general. Have fun no matter where you go. You’ll love the beach. Wubba
