Gaviota Varadero Marina
South Coast

The Gaviota Varadero Marina is without doubt, the best news currently coming out of Cuba for all visiting yachts and Superyachts looking for modern dockside service and facilities. The marina is a large scale ongoing development project, which upon ‘final phase’ completion, will have 1,000 slips plus a luxury Melia Marina hotel and yachting centre onsite. ‘Phase one’ is now nearly complete and consists of 404 slips including 6 for larger yachts with a depth of 5m (alongside docking) and 6m controlling depths on the approaches. The hotel is also hopefully going to be open for this 2014 season. Single and three phase power is available at the marina docks, along with a fuel dock (gas and diesel), potable water, ship chandlery and a boatyard equipped with two 100 ton Travel Lifts plus one smaller 50 ton Lift, a 3 ton crane and dry storage for up to 40 boats. The large Travel Lifts have 11.5 metres width in the haul-out bay.Customs and Immigration facilities are also located onsite along with restrooms and showers, a good supermarket and car rental offices. There is also a heliport onsite, and a great variety of shoreside and underwater attractions throughout the popular nearby Varadero town and beach resort destination. These include a great golf course (see ‘Golf’ section), a diving centre, game fishing charters, a multitude of comfortable hotels and varied restaurants. When stage three of the Marina Development project is finally completed (within the next couple of years) there will also be a dedicated Yachting Centre and waterfront ‘lifestyle’ shopping centre & mall with many more restaurants, shops and recreational facilities to complete this forward looking (and unique for Cuba) marina development project.
