Resort help

Anyone ever been to either Grand Bahia Principe La Romana or Catalonia La Romana? Both are a very good price and was just wondering if I could get some feed back from someone who has been there. I have not been to La Romana yet, just Punta Cana.

Thanks for the help!

Ive stayed in La Romana …probably hands down on of the nicest areas in the DR that has AIs, if you like PC you will love La Romana

Ive never stayed at either hotel you are asking about , BUT, i stayed next door to the CAT… awesome beach, super calm clear ocean, walking distance to Dominicus( great town… losts of shops/restaurants and a wonderful nice size casino) and also a very short cab ride away to Bayhibe

Bahia is kind of all by itself closer to La Romana but not walking distance… the big big downfall to this resort is the river that runs right beside the property, which keeps the ocean in front of it very mirky most of the time… there is no other resorts around this area,

I would return to Dominicus/Bayhibe are in a heart beat if someone would start utilizing the new airport in that area… looks like on one these trips I may have to break down and fly to PC and shuttle over to the area

I found a flight from my home airport that connects in Atlanta right into La Romana. I believe it was a Delta flight.

Northern, WestJet and Sunwing fly into LaRomana. We have flown into that airport 3 times now, it’s great.
I think that it is only Friday departures out of TO. In November when we were flying home, the ground crew all lined up and waved goodbye to us as we taxied away. Nice touch!

Thinking of Don Pablo in July. Do canadian airlines fly here in July or into PUJ? What kind of time from Punta Cana to La Ramona?

Any thoughts of this resort would be appreciated.

Oh so its a classification of Bahia,

so in that case if the poster is looking at staying at Bahia in La Romana… its location I would stay away from, its way out on its own, nothing really around, but the worse part is a river runs right by it, and keeps the water very murky , there is many resorts in La Romana are long before the Bahia

Sorry about not mentioning it was the Gran Bahia chain. So it seems we will have to do the 1–1 1/2 hr trip but what resort would you suggest as it is our first trip to this area.

Several to choose from and will probably lean to the Iberostar as that chain is usually pretty good.

Thanks in advance

my personal opinion in order 1-3

Iberostar

canoa

catalonia

for me I would look at those 3 and base it on price, they are all on same stretch of beach
