Suggestions Only

I wasn’t sure where to post this; so I’m off topic!! Is it possible to have each post given a number from 1 to 25 replies? I’m never sure if I have read all of page 1 or just up to last few? Picky, I know (that’s my middle name).

One other issue if it is at all possible. On TA if I have an interest in a specific topic, I click on watch this topic (words to that effect); then they notify when a new comment comes in. Is this doable for Debbie’s?

I’m not a computer programmer so I’m not sure how difficult it would be; or if it’s even possible through ProBoards. If it can’t be done - no problem; this post is suggestions only and I promise to still play with my friends even if I don’t get my own way. Zee - what do you say?

There is a feature on here I find useful, and it is the “new posts” notification on a thread in which you have participated. (look at the “participated” box just under the “logout”.) When you click on the link it shows you the threads, and when you click on the thread it takes you to the first post that is “new to you”. Another forum I am active on has a “new posts” link you can click on, which supposedly flags any new post since the last time you logged in. I find this quite useful.

Thanks eeeefarm. That is very helpful. I had seen the box but assumed it just meant that yeah, I had looked at the site, good to know. What do you think about numbering the posts on threads? Another forum has them numbered with the time and I’m able to click on the next one to read. Hard customer huh!

I’m good with numbering. Assuming it isn’t difficult to do, why not? The non Cuba related forum I am on numbers the posts, and also works very similarly to this one in terms of posting pictures, editing, etc.

I think it’s a good idea. I don’t really know how hard it is to do, but I can see a benefit to it.

I believe for this option you looking something that on proboards is called bookmarks and notifications!

To bookmark a thread, first navigate to a thread on the message board that you find interesting and would like to bookmark. Once viewing the thread, click the Actions drop-down menu found just above the first post of the thread, and from the menu select the Bookmark option. Once you choose the Bookmark option from the action menu, you will notice a Bookmark image display in the top-left hand corner of the thread, just above the post at the top of the page. You will also notice that the Bookmark option in the action menu has now changed to read Remove Bookmark, allowing you to remove the bookmark if made by accident.

Once you have a topic bookmarked, you can access the bookmarked thread at any time using the Bookmarks button found in the menu bar at the top of the forum. This button will only appear if there are topics bookmarked to your account.

Bookmark Notification Options

There are a couple of different methods that can be used to be notified when a topic you have bookmarked has been updated. You can be notified either with a notification bubble above the Bookmarks button in the top menu bar, showing you the amount of bookmarked topics that have been updated since your last visit to the forum, and/or you can receive and email letting you know when certain bookmarked topics have been updated.

To configure your notification options, visit the forum you frequent and login to your forum account. Once logged in, click the Profile button found in the top menu bar, and then click the Edit Profile button found on the next page. On the next screen, click the Notifications tab and you can view all of the different options that you can receive notifications about on the forum. Look for the when a bookmark is updated option, then check one or both of the boxes provided to the left of this area to indicate the type of notification you would like to receive. Once you have your notifications setup the way you want them to be, click the Save Notification Settings button found at the bottom of the page to complete the process.

Once saved, you will begin to receive notifications based on how you set them up. Keep in mind that you will only receive notifications when the bookmarked topics have been updated by other members; you will not receive a notification when you have posted in a bookmarked topic yourself.

I hope this helps and that you will be able easier to navigate forum now!

I think it is slightly different if each post on a thread has a number as if you are making reference to someone’s comment instead of
“quoting”
them you can post…and said in post #7 and # 13 I agree/disagree… because …

I agree that would be nice, if possible to programme. But I am sure ADMIN can figure that out as they were able to place the # of pages on top AND at the bottom of the page.

And a “Back to Top” button for those of us without a “Page Up” key. The wheel on my mouse takes an awful beating on these long pages.

I would say I listened you and I implemented both features what you asked for!
Problem solved

Thanks Zee. You’re making Debbie’s better every day. Don’t know how you find the time keep up with all the forums you look after, but you’re doing a fantastic job. I’m sure all the members are appreciative. I rate the new Debbie’s as a 5 star.

Sorry it took me some time but this feature was implemented as well. Now you will see on the right side arrow so when you click that arrow it will bring you to the top! Hope it helps regarding your mouse beating on long pages
