When I was at the La Romana airport, there were several Dominican people asking tourists if they would exchange their Canadian loonies and toonies to paper money. They said that the bank would take Canadian bills but not Canadian coins.

So if you are going to tip, Canadian coins not a good idea.

[b]Same goes for US coin also. That’s part of the reason that $1US bills are popular with Canadians (and others) for tipping; the smallest bill we have is $5CDN - which is a very, very generous tip in some circumstances (IMHO).
