What's on your mp3 for Cuba?

Hey all. With my vacation coming up quickly, one of the things I do every trip is put together a music compilation to listen to at the beach. Of course I have this saved but I add to it as I hear new songs.

So I was wondering if any of you do up a list and if so, what’s on it?

One of my favs is the sound track from Buena Vista Social Club documentary ( [a href=“http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwyGPg8cYvY”]movie trailer)[/a]

:sunglasses:

Buena Vista Social Club documentary is excellent soundtrack and I have it in my car on CDs and on my mp3 player as well. I have mostly Latin and Cuban songs on my mp3 player and I will list a few below but as well I have the best of Sade and it is always good to chill out on the beach with Sade tunes

and Eros Ramazzotti (before I used to listen Eros in Italian now his tunes in Spanish)

So Latin and Cuban tunes I will put some that I really like

  1. Los Adolescentes (all albums as I love to dance Salsa)
  1. Aventura ( Bachata is very nice for the beach and now Aventura is called Romeo Santos)
  1. Cristian Castro ( All albums)
  1. Laura Paussini (mostly in Spanish)
  1. Enrique Iglesias
  1. David Bisbal
  1. Reik
  1. Camila (Mexican rock pop band all albums)
  1. Jesse & Joy - ¡Corre!
  1. Ricardo Arjona
  1. Yuridia - Ya Te Olvidé
  1. Marc Anthony ( All Songs and Albums)
  1. Pablo Alborán - Solamente Tú
  1. Cuban Cubaton Songs ( I have many so I will list some )

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7wiNTPn1Uhg

etc …

  1. Julio Eglesias Duetos
  1. N’klabe ( All songs and albums)
  1. Prince Royce
  1. Tropical Tribute to The Beatles
  1. deadmau5 (must have some Canadian Dj music  )
  1. Anacaona
  1. The Gipsy Kings - The Very Best Of

and I could go on and on … as I love Cuban and Latin music and I have many songs on my mp3 … but at least this list can help you have some new songs that you did not have on your list before

Holy Cow Admin: You must have a staff of 100 if you can #1 - go on vacation at the onset of a fab forum and post every where; #2 - manage another forum at the same time; #3 - have time to listen to great international stuff. Where in the world do you find the time - or are you really a zombie who never sleeps? Whatever it is, you should let world know; we all need a drop or two (maybe more more some). I’m impressed.

what about Juanes, Chico y Nacho, Shakira, Carlos Baute, Miguel. So many artists with great music. Hard to chose. But love finding ‘new to me’ songs!! A few in the list above that I had not heard before! Thanks!

So I may be in the minority, but I don’t listen to Cuban music on my phone whilst in Cuba… I hear it lots down there, so when I put on my headphones, I like to listen to MY music hah

I have all the Radiohead albums (my fav band) and I love listening to them… they have really beautiful music that can be relaxing and intense all at the same time!

Also, love some Jay-Z. lol

I’m probably in the other minority - I do not want to hear any music when I’m on the beach (and I never sit by the pool). The sound of the surf is music to my ears. The other, I can get any time.

Sure those musicians are excellent and I love to listen them as well> But now I just posted a few that are on my mp3 player! Please feel free to put some youtube videos here on the thread so that other can see and hear. You just copy youtube URL and use small movie icon in the right corner to place youtube video!

Here is a few more from me:

Pedro Camacho y el Clan

Celia Cruz

Ibrahim Ferrer

Tito Puente

Carlos Santana

Don Omar

Pitbull

and some merengue to mix it up Elvis Crespo

I love vacation I guess too much so I connected everything together. You know when you sit at the coffee shop or you simply go out and see people checking their phones. They probably are on Debbie’s forum posting  Lol I just love to listen music and I can many times work and listen music at the same time. I do not watch TV channels so maybe I have more time for Internet and entertainment. Going on vacations is fun so I do not see it as time consuming but time to enjoy and relax and listen this tune:

You are right many times I feel like that as well when I just want to relax and hear sounds of waves and enjoy quiet time and sounds of the nature. But sometimes I hear music and simply I want to dance so I like to dance with music that I like.

Juanes- A Dios Le Pidos

I do luvs my music, but seriously, I’m with Sharon Ann, the sound of the waves is the best music e-ver.

Great selection here, though, I’ll add it to my list… when I’m waiting in the airport lol

Hey do not forget us while you are on the beach and specially if you listen some of the tunes from this thread

Wow! Thanks for those ideas! :sunglasses: I have a few of those. I also have Shakira, Pitbull, some Bob Marley, and few others I can’t think of right now…

Also have this one from Antonio Banderas

I put some jazz and blues on mine.

I have to admit, I also like to sit on the beach without any music sometimes. It all depends on my mood. It also depends if others around me have music playing.

We love Gypsy Kings! Saw them at Casino Rama near us here. They are great live!

Thank you Zee for putting in the links, it’s easier to scroll down.
My mp3 uuuuuuuusually stays at home, but since I’ve got night flights coming up, I’ll be taking it.

My mp3 is mixed bag, always includes Steely Dan (diehard fan here), and usually some of the oldies from Pink Floyd, Yes, Beatles, Colin James, Stevie Ray, some disco, lots of jazz with horns, even some classical and more meditative stuff.

As for Latino music, what can I say: I admit it: I AM A DANCING FOOL. If I have salsa music on my mp3, I’m done. Hold me back. Tie me down. Watch me on friggin’ UToob. Yep that’s me, the lady dancin’ in the airport! I’ve said it once and I’ll say again, I must have been latina in a former life ::slight_smile:

Right now I’m listening to Luis Enrique, album Soy e Sere, the song Descontrolame. I dare yuz NOT to move! :-*

Let’s see what I’ve got. Lots of Daddy Yankee (cube sube!), a little Pitbull, but he’s really getting wearisome; I don’t like his lyrics. :frowning:

Daddy Yankee: Miss Show, La Nueva y la Ex, Rompe, Descontrol, mas mas mas.

Wisin y Yandel: Algo Me Gusta de Ti (also the English version, which isn’t as good: Something About You), Fever (with Sean Kingston), Dame un Poquito de Eso, Dime Que Te Paso

Celiz Cruz, Aventura, Juanes, Shakira Shakira, Paulina Rubio, Cafe Tacuba, Rualin Rosendo, Sean Paul, Sean Kingston, Shaggy…pretty much all of my Zumba music makes it on there, too.

I like your music set on your mp3 player …you must have lots of fun on the beach listening all those tunes. Do you have portable external speaker or just mp3 player?

Speaking of portable external speaker, I’ve had the (dis)pleasure of seeing tourists with pill speakers on the beach. What next? Personal boomboxes? Just sayin’…

Agree Zen!

Please leave the speakers and boom boxes at home. Some of us prefer just the sound of the waves at the beach and not everyone appreciates your personal music selections.

Zendudette, I have small round portable speakers that I got at costco…the volume is loud enough for those sitting in your immediate area, but nothing like the pill speakers. I seldom have to volume loud enough to bother those around me, unless someone asks if I can turn it up…even then it doesn’t get too loud. I usually plug my speakers into my ipod for music on my balcony pre-dinner. Don’t mention the personal boomboxes…they do exist!!

There are many beaches in Cuba that have no other people around but my friends and family and we like sometimes to hear some music. Yes sometimes pigs come too as pigs like to listen Salsa music. I like to dance on the beach sometimes and dancing without music is hard. I am not saying that loud music on the beach is good … that is no no and specially around others but as I said beaches in Cuba are big and many of them do not have other tourists around.
